Abstract

The purpose of this article is to design a context-aware ERP readiness management (ERM) model. This issue comes from a challenge observed in the literature where ERP readiness methods struggled to adapt going from one context to another. The question is tackled with a focus on contextual variables like economy, culture, human resource and infrastructure. Situational Method engineering (SME) is used to decompose existing methods into reusable components with contextual properties. The Design Science methodology is used to combine these components within a situational framework composed of a metamodel, a repository and an assembly algorithm. Experiments are used to evaluate the model towards its capacity to describe existing ERM. SME combined with ERM offers new capabilities to ERM models. This study hence contributes with an approach to build an ERM by assembling components based on their suitability to a particular context. It is also the first to combine SME with ERM to contribute to an adaptability issue.
